Franklin Templeton Unveils Groundbreaking Intraday Yield Feature on Benji Technology Platform

Global investment giant Franklin Templeton has announced the launch of its latest feature, intraday yield, on its proprietary Benji Technology Platform. This innovative feature is set to revolutionize the way investors earn returns on their tokenized securities, offering them advantages from the proportional calculation and distribution of returns with one-second resolution.

The intraday return feature, made possible by patenting technology, allows investors to maximize their earnings potential by participating in their investments at any time of the day, even if the security is traded intraday. According to the company, this means that an investor can hold a tokenized security for part of the day, transfer it to another investor, and still earn returns for the period they were shareholders.

The Benji platform also offers the consideration of shares and calculates the return that investors receive daily, independent of weekends or public holidays. This proprietary blockchain-integrated stack enables trade, management, and servicing of token-based investments, making it an attractive solution for banks, asset managers, and investors alike.

Expanding Market Opportunities

The introduction of intraday yield on the Benji platform is expected to dramatically increase market opportunities for both customers and partners. By providing real-time returns, Franklin Templeton aims to improve the existing industry standard, which typically determines ownership and calculates returns at the end of a trade day, distributing them to investors at the end of the month.

Roger Bayston, head of digital assets at Franklin Templeton, noted that the new feature is “an example of how we bring the real, concrete advantages of blockchains to our global customer base and for new partners and investors.” He believes that characteristics like intraday yield, made possible by the composability of the blockchain environment, have the potential to become an industry standard.

Additional Features and Developments

In addition to intraday yield, Franklin Templeton has introduced several other features on the Benji platform, including wallet-to-wallet transfers, StableCoin on-ramps and off-ramps, and permissioned self-custody. These features enable peer-to-peer transmission of digital tokens, allow investors to buy and redeem Benji tokens using stable coins, and permit external wallets to hold Benji tokens on supported blockchains.

Sandy Kaul, Head of Innovation at Franklin Templeton, emphasized that the company believes “the future will be a blockchain-based system that will be delivered with the trust, scale, and regulatory strictness expected by investors.” With its latest developments, Franklin Templeton is well-positioned to lead the way in this emerging market.

Franklin Templeton has also made significant strides in the digital assets space, with over $1.53 trillion in assets under management as of February 30, 2025. The company has introduced several innovative products, including the Franklin Crypto Index ETF and the Franklin Onchain US Government Money Fund (FobXX), which are available on the Solana blockchain.
