The hackathon is open to participants under the age of 21 from 8 countries, including Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, and South Africa.

Key Highlights of the Initiative

  • The hackathon is a 40-day virtual event where participants will create original video games.
  • As part of the UNICEF partnership, the Bitget Academy will develop the first interactive blockchain training module from Unicef for video game production.

Bitget, the world’s leading Universal Exchange (UEX), has announced its formal support for UNICEF’s very first global Game Jam to create a virtual hackathon. The initiative is part of the Bitget strategic partnership with the Game Changers Coalition of Unicef, which aims to equip young people, especially girls in emerging countries, with STEAM skills and ways to do entrepreneurship and innovation.

“Introducing children to digital skills at an early age is important to accelerate the growth of emerging tech and finance. Emerging technologies such as blockchain offer the tools needed for youth to become entrepreneurs, builders, and innovators on a global scale. The digital space should be more inclusive and empowering for the next generation of women leaders,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget.

Blockchain Training Module and Its Impact

The Bitget Academy will develop Unicef’s first interactive blockchain training module, which will convey practical blockchain skills to the participants, including smart contract integration, tokenization, and decentralized game mechanics. The program is expected to reach 300,000 people, including young girls, parents, mentors, and teachers in the eight countries.

The hackathon initiative follows Bitget’s flagship initiative, Women-in-Blockchain, Blockchain4Her, with the start of its “Lady Forward” campaign. Lady Forward is expanding in university partnerships, internship programs, and a program for female managers that combines women in the entire blockchain ecosystem.

Since its foundation in January last year, Blockchain4Her has already achieved measurable effects, financing 11 startups guided by women through its Pitch N’ Slay competitions and including over 300,000 people worldwide by working with the Game Changers Coalition of Unicef.
