Telegram Integrates with Affluent to Offer DeFi Yields through In-App Wallet
Telegram, a popular messaging app, has taken a significant step towards making DeFi (Decentralized Finance) more accessible to its users. In collaboration with Affluent, a TON-based DeFi vault protocol, Telegram’s in-app self-custody wallet will now enable users to earn DeFi yields. This integration is expected to provide one-click access to DeFi for over 100 million active Telegram wallet users.
Key Features of the Integration
The integration between Telegram and Affluent will allow users to earn yield on their USDT (Tether) balances through the “Earn” feature in TON Wallet, Telegram’s self-managing product. Users can expect to earn up to 3.5% returns on their USDT holdings, making it an attractive option for those looking to generate passive income.
According to Egor Danilov, CPO of Wallet at Telegram, “This partnership will enable millions of people around the world to transform their idle holdings into productive, yield-generating assets.” He further emphasized that the goal of the integration is to make Web3 accessible to everyone, regardless of their familiarity with cryptocurrency.
Telegram’s Ambition to Become a Web3 Super App
Justin Hyun, co-CEO of TON-based Affluent, sees this integration as a milestone towards making Telegram a Web3 super app. A Web3 super app is a type of application that offers multiple use cases, including messaging, social media, and payments. With 800 million monthly active users and 100 million wallet users, Telegram has the potential to become a significant source of new DeFi users.
The company plans to onboard 30% of its user base to the wallet by 2028, which could lead to a significant increase in DeFi adoption. As Hyun noted, “We have abstracted the complexities of DeFi and now enable Telegram users to access professional savings strategies directly from Telegram – open wallet, click and earn.”
