Astar Network Unveils New Roadmap to Power Native Token

Astar Network, a parachain in the Polkadot ecosystem, has released a new roadmap to improve its native token, ASTR, with features that reduce supply, increase cross-chain usage, and give the community more control. The project aims to create a more stable, useful, and valuable token over time. crypto news Astar Network Launches Its Ethereum Layer02

The roadmap, published in a Nov. 12 X post, details Astar Network’s plan to introduce a fixed supply cap of 10.5 billion ASTR, replacing the inflation model. This change is intended to create scarcity and increase the token’s value. Additionally, the network will transition from its current governance system to a community-led approach starting next year.

Key Features of the Roadmap

The new roadmap includes several key features, such as the introduction of a hard cap of 10.5 billion ASTR tokens, which may be reduced further after the network’s planned “burndrop” event. The Burndrop event allows users to burn their ASTR tokens in exchange for allocations in the Startale ecosystem, creating scarcity while rewarding long-term holders. The network also plans to launch a Startale app by early 2026, which will act as a multi-chain wallet and “super app” to manage the native token across different networks.

As part of the roadmap, Astar will be integrated into Polkadot Asset Hub Plaza starting later this year, adding EVM compatibility, enabling bridging to Ethereum, and allowing ASTR access to greater liquidity. The token’s role in cross-chain staking and voting will also be expanded. To increase community participation, Astar Foundation plans to move to decentralized governance through community councils and donor programs by mid-2026.

Community Involvement and Governance Transformation

Astar Foundation plans to launch an Ambassador Fellowship program later this year, rewarding active members with tokens. The program aims to increase community participation and give members a more significant role in the network’s decision-making process. With this roadmap, Astar wants to position itself as a sustainable Web3 infrastructure platform, where the native token is not just a useful asset but a cornerstone of the protocol’s long-term future.

According to Astar’s founder, Sota Watanabe, the goal is to create “a leaner, fairer network” where the native token is a vital part of the protocol’s long-term future. The new roadmap is a significant step towards achieving this goal, and the community is eagerly awaiting the implementation of these new features.
