Solana Mobile to Launch SKR Token in January 2025, Revolutionizing its Open Mobile Ecosystem
Solana Mobile is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated SKR token in January 2025, marking a significant milestone in the development of its open mobile ecosystem. This new token is designed to empower users, support developers, and enhance the overall security of the platform.
The SKR token will operate on a staking, rewards, and community security model, allowing users to participate in the growth and development of the ecosystem. With a fixed supply of 10 billion SKR, the token distribution will be allocated as follows: 30% for airdrops, 25% for growth and partnerships, 10% for liquidity and adoption, 10% for community treasury, 15% for Solana Mobile, and 10% for Solana (SOL) Labs.
Key Features and Benefits of the SKR Token
The SKR token will act as the coordination layer for the Seeker phone ecosystem, enabling users to stake their tokens to Guardians who perform device audits, review new apps, and enforce community rules. The inflation schedule is designed to reward early users, starting at 10% in the first year and decreasing by 25% each year until it reaches a constant final rate of 2%. This model aims to incentivize users to engage with the network and contribute to its security.
Users who own a Seeker device can activate a Genesis token, which will be issued as a Soulbound NFT via the Seed Vault wallet, allowing them to participate in early rounds of airdrops and other rewards. The Seeker phone has already gained significant traction, with over 150,000 pre-orders worldwide, and the upcoming Guardians network is expected to further extend this momentum.
The Rise of the Guardians Network
The Guardians network, set to launch in 2026, will play a crucial role in decentralizing device verification and app review. Guardians will act as independent verifiers, responsible for verifying phone authenticity, reviewing app submissions, and helping to shape platform rules. Solana Mobile will serve as the first Guardian, with other notable participants including Anza, Helius, DoubleZero, Triton, and Jito joining at launch.
SKR will power this network through staking, enabling Guardians to receive rewards tied to their work and allowing users to play a direct role in the growth of the ecosystem. As January approaches, Solana Mobile sees SKR as an opportunity to advance its open mobile vision while locking value to the community that builds and uses the platform.
