Solana Mobile Announces SKR Token Launch Date and Airdrop Details

Solana Mobile has set January 21 as the launch date for the highly anticipated SKR token, which will act as the economic backbone and coordination layer of its Seeker series of smartphones.

The SKR token is a fundamental utility and governance token that is expected to give crypto-native mobile users more control over platform policies and economic flows compared to traditional mobile ecosystems. According to Emmett Hollyer, general manager of Solana Mobile, SKR will provide users and developers with more influence over the success of the platform, including participation, rules, and economic flows.

SKR Token Supply and Airdrop Allocation

30% of the 10 billion SKR supply is earmarked for airdrops, with the majority allocated to Seeker users and developers. An additional 2.7 billion SKR will be made available during the token generation event, of which 1 billion tokens will be allocated to the community treasury and another billion will be used to provide liquidity. The remaining 700 million will be used for growth and partnerships.

Seeker users can stake and delegate their tokens to Solana node operators, called Guardians, in exchange for various exclusive in-app features and staking rewards. Solana Mobile has already confirmed many of its key infrastructure partners, such as Anza, Helius, Jito, DoubleZero, and Triton One, as guardians that will be featured in the launch of the SKR token.

Seeker Smartphone and TEEPIN Architecture

Seeker is the second-generation device in Solana Mobile’s crypto-integrated smartphone lineup, which began with the Saga. The phone’s TEEPIN architecture decentralizes device-level security and app distribution over a multi-layer trust network, with Solana node operators responsible for verifying devices, curating dApps, and enforcing community rules.

Solana Mobile began shipping the new devices to over 50 countries in August last year after securing more than 150,000 pre-orders. The company has ended software support for the Saga devices, which were sold in significantly lower volumes compared to the Seeker.
