Solana Executive Challenges XRP Community to Livestream Debate on Blockchain Activity
A Solana Foundation manager, Vibhu, has issued an open invitation to XRP community members and Ripple executives to participate in a livestream debate about the XRP Ledger and Solana networks. The debate, which will be fact-based, aims to compare the blockchain activity between the two networks. Vibhu, who hosted a discussion comparing the two networks, says, “You bring facts, I bring facts. Facts matter. Let the internet decide who wins.”
Comparison of Blockchain Activities
Vibhu shared data from xrpscan, which shows the current network metrics of the XRP Ledger. The data reveals that the number of active daily accounts on the XRP Ledger has not improved in the last three years and is around 25,000. In contrast, Solana is averaging over 2.5 million daily active accounts this year, a 100x difference. Additionally, “successful payments” on the XRP ledger have increased by around 50%, with a total daily transaction of around 1.5 million, while Solana processes around 100 million transactions per day.
The XRP transfer volume is around $50-60 billion per month, whereas Solana’s stablecoin transfer volume in October alone reached almost $2 trillion. Vibhu addressed expected responses to bots and fake activities, stating that “this cannot be substantiated with data and the data provided here for Solana excludes wash volume,” citing Blockworks. He also noted that both networks have similarly low transaction fees, meaning there is no reason Solana would uniquely attract bots that XRP Ledger would not.
XRP’s Potential for Long-Term Success
Despite the significant differences in network activity, Vibhu stated that he wants Ripple and XRP to “succeed to an insane extent so that the entire industry advances.” He acknowledged that future adoption is still possible, including the possibility of widespread use of XRP for money transfers. However, he concluded that the current traction is “extremely mediocre given the immense value of the network and time to market.” Vibhu suggested that XRP holders should think about how much longer it is worth waiting.
